The Man Who Shot The Seventies

For many people my age the rock n roll images remembered from the early seventies were shot by Mick Rock often referred to as “The Man Who Shot The Seventies”

He is probably best known for shooting David Bowie during the Glam Rock era being Ziggy Stardust’s official photographer. He also produced and directed some early videos (known then as promos) ‘John, I’m Only Dancing’, ‘Jean Genie’, ‘Space Oddity’, and ‘Life On Mars’.

Mick also shot some of the most iconic album sleeves around this time, Syd Barrett’s The Madcap Laughs, Lou Reed’s Transformer and Coney Island Baby, Iggy and the Stooges’ Raw Power,  Queen’s Queen II and later the Ramones End of the Century and Joan Jett’s I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Here are some of my favourite photographs by Mick;
